Experience to be President
July 3, 2008Two of our nation’s greatest wartime leaders, Lincoln and FDR, had no military experience prior to becoming president. In fact some our nation’s worst leaders had illustrious military careers. So this notion that military experience breeds a great president is crazy.
Experience, while helpful is not necessary. Twenty five years in congress does not make someone ready to be president. Lincoln, had only two years experience in the house and a failed senate run before he became president. Experience is not what matters, what matters is judgement.
While I admire McCain’s service I do not think it makes him any more qualified to be President of the United States of America.

I believe that McCain has more experience than Barack. I mean Obama has barely started his political career and he is already trying for the top seat of our government. At least McCain has experienced the hardships of war, and he has served our government for years. I am not about to put a rookie in the Oval Office. The only reason Obama won the nomination was because he sweet talked all of the young people, and they got off their butts for once and voted for him. If I’m not mistaken, you didn’t even support Obama until he won the nomination.
First, I gave you examples that military experience does not always translate into good leadership. Second, McCain has been in Washington so long he is now part of the corrupt system, Obama is part of the movement of change. Obama did not sweet talk anyone, he appeals to all demographics. He is able to inspire hope into young America and get them out to vote and be involved with government. Yes I did support Hillary Clinton from the inception of her campaign, but when it became clear that Obama was going to be the nominee I switched my support to him because I thought it was better for the party. Throughout the primary process though I said I would support either candidate.
